Siena, Tenuta Vitereta, and first farewell

Friday 23 June 2017 - I don't have a lot of notes from today (read "none"), so I'll wing this. We went to Siena, which is a beautiful town with a fabulous large piazza. I think they use this at times for horse racing (they put down sand).

Some climbed the tower, but I claimed an exemption, having done the Duomo. Siena Cathedral is impressive.

There's quite a bit to see here, so we bought passes.

Next we have an appointment with a winery (surprise, surprise), but this one's special. It's Tenuta Vitereta which is owned and run by the family that also own our villa.

The large vats are concrete - apparently quite common in Italy (they're coated inside). The tasting was very enjoyable, especially their Vin Santo.

Dinner at home, and our first farewell as the Canadians leave us for further travels before returning home.
